About
Steve Shamburger grew up around art, as his father was a commercial artist and art director at the largest ad agency in town. In grade school he could be found during recess filling his sketchbook with drawings of Batman, Superman and Spiderman.
After high school, Steve enrolled in the Art Institute of Houston, where he earned his Associate's degree in advertising design. Upon graduation, he immediately began his freelance career in Houston, providing design and illustration to local businesses. Several years later he added caricature to his repertoire when a client hired him to draw guests at a Christmas party.
In 1991 Steve moved to Overland Park, Kansas where he began to acquire more national clients, including Movieline and Sports Illustrated Kids magazines. After his son was born, he and his family returned to Baton Rouge.
Steve is a member of the Art Guild of Louisiana, where he leads a weekly life drawing group. He also teaches an occasional drawing and painting workshop, and continues to freelance from his home-based studio.
